SMS Program Terms — Surgical Intercom
Effective date: May 16, 2026
This page describes the Surgical Intercom SMS program operated by Sergonomics LLC.
Program name
Surgical Intercom — Perioperative Care Coordination.
Program description
Surgical Intercom sends time-sensitive text messages related to a patient's upcoming or recent surgical procedure. Messages include preparation reminders, day-of-surgery instructions, post-operative care reminders, and follow-up appointment check-ins. Patients may reply to acknowledge messages, ask questions, or request a callback from the surgical office.
How patients opt in
Consent is obtained in writing at the surgery scheduling visit conducted by the patient's surgeon's office. The patient signs an intake form that authorizes Sergonomics LLC to send SMS communications related to their surgical episode of care. A patient cannot be enrolled in Surgical Intercom without this signed consent. A copy of the consent form is available to carrier reviewers on request.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies by surgical phase. Typically:
- 4–8 messages preoperatively over 2–4 weeks
- 1–2 messages on the day of surgery
- 6–12 messages postoperatively over 6 weeks
Some patients may receive additional messages based on their specific care plan.
Costs
Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Sergonomics does not charge patients to receive or reply to messages.
Opt-out
You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any Surgical Intercom message. After replying STOP, you will receive a single confirmation message and will no longer receive program messages. To opt back in, contact your surgeon's office.
Help
Reply HELP to any Surgical Intercom message to receive contact information for support. You may also email contact@sergonomics.com.
Supported carriers
The program is compatible with major U.S. carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and others). Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
