About Sergonomics
Sergonomics LLC was founded in 2016 by Eric M. Gordon, MD, an orthopedic surgeon focused on hip and knee replacement. The name fuses surgery and ergonomics — the company began with 3D-printed instruments designed to improve surgical technique and reduce strain inside the operating room.
The portfolio has grown across the surgical patient's lifecycle:
- ClearAuth — streamlines surgical pre-authorization, making staff work easier and clinical documentation cleaner.
- Surgical Intercom — perioperative patient communication by SMS, keeping joint replacement patients on track before and after surgery.
- ARCUS — measures motion in the operating room during total knee replacement.
Software is the current focus because it scales faster than physical products, but the underlying motivation is constant: a working surgeon, building practical tools for the problems he sees in clinic, in the OR, and in his patients' recoveries.
Why we exist
Surgical care has gotten more technical, but the systems around it — the paperwork that authorizes a case, the communication that prepares a patient, the data captured during the operation itself — haven't kept up. Surgeons spend their evenings doing administrative work that should have been automated. Patients are sent home with paper packets and voicemail loops. Both sides lose.
Sergonomics builds the missing layer: small, focused tools at every point in the surgical patient's journey, made by people who know the work because they do it.
How we work
- Surgeon-first. Every product is built by, with, and for active surgical practices.
- Privacy by design. Patient health information is treated with the same care we owe in clinic.
- No-nonsense pricing. We don't sell to procurement; we sell to surgeons.
- Documented in the open. Our build process and decision logs are public when they can be.
